Oh my goodness, just got the fabulous news that SLOW SATISFACTION, the culmination of the Struck by Lightning Trilogy, is a finalist in the Passionate Plume Awards! These are the annual awards given by the Passionate Ink chapter of the RWA, the specialty chapter (originally founded by Sylvia Day!) for writers of erotica and erotic romance. So this is quite an honor, for this book to be recognized within the erotic romance realm this way. The book is a finalist in the Contemporary category.
It’s also making me happy how the people who loved the book have REALLY LOVED IT.
Someone I met at RT this year told me Slow Satisfaction has one of her favorite erotic “WTF?” moments ever. After Karina and James leave Ohio and head back to New York City, with trusty chauffeur Stefan in the driver’s seat, they of course get up to their usual favorite activity (sex). At one point Karina and he are in a 69 and she realizes he’s texting someone… The limo pulls over and she hears Stefan get something from the trunk. A moment later the back window opens and James accepts the glass dildo he apparently requested. (And then he puts the dildo to good use, of course.)
Yes, it’s that sort of book.
The Passionate Plume Awards winners will be announced at the Passionate Ink party during RWA National, Friday July 24th, 7-9:30. Tickets are on sale now (here). There will be a fabulous burlesque show, as well.
I’m super excited also to see that Cameron Quintain’s FAMILIAR PLACES, a femdom vampire romantic suspense novella made finalist in the Paranormal category! While there’s a lot of BDSM out there these days, most of it is male dom/female sub. It’s nice to see female dom/male sub getting some time in the spotlight, too.
And congratulations and good luck to all the finalists, including L.A. Witt (a double nominee in Contemporary, one co-written with Aleks Voinov), Shari Slade and Amber Lin (congrats again on the Bisexual Book Award, too!!), and Anne Lang! So many writers I admire on the list! Regina Kammer! Louisa Bacio! Anna Alexander! And so many I clearly need to start reading. :-)
